Quiet the noisy mind.
When my sponsor said this for the first time
I had no idea what he was talking about.
When it was explained I knew exactly
of what he was speaking about, the resident rodents
in my head that were always running around
on that squeaky hamster wheel.
They were the addictive thoughts always creating
a cacophony of confusion and negativity,
causes for not wanting to be alone in the stillness.
Doing the steps, learning about prayer and meditation,
AA and my Higher Power have done for me what
I could not do on my own, quieting the noisy mind,
relieving me of my miseries.
Recovery is one day at a time.
Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.
