Sacrifice Means Survival

.

“Just as sacrifice
means survival for
the individual alcoholic,
so does sacrifice mean
unity and survival for
the group and for A.A.’s
entire Fellowship.”

.

As Bill Sees It    p 220

.

No drinking, no thinking, go to meetings,

help another alcoholic.

Not too much to sacrifice when you know that the effort,

the price to pay, will be rewarded with a sobriety

filled with peace and serenity.

Remember, you can’t give what you don’t have.

Recovery is being willing to sacrifice.

Sobriety is a blessing from a Higher Power.

A Willingness To Give

.
“The unity, the effectiveness,

and even the survival of A.A.

will always depend upon

our
continued willingness to

give
up some of our personal

ambitions and desires

for the common safety and welfare.”

.

~  As Bill Sees It    p  220

.

As a drunk it was always about me,

in recovery it becomes all about we.

Compromise, balance, and agreement, words that are

foreign to the active alcoholic are words to those in recovery

that provide serenity and peace of mind.

To be restored to sane thinking is learning how

to use these words honestly in all of our affairs.

Recovery is to give up some of our personal ambitions and desires.

Sobriety is a blessing from a Higher Power.
