The Inside Job

.

“Though we travel

the world over

to find the beautiful,

we must carry it with us

or we find it not.”

.

~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

.

It is not what you see, it is how you perceive.

The Great Creator has made this world beautiful,

look for the good, be kind and loving, have faith,

believing that God has already provide the beautiful.

Today, look inside of yourself,

God has also planted something beautiful in there,

a soul that can be happy, joyous and free.

Recovery is having a beautiful attitude.

Sobriety is a blessing from a Higher Power.

The Power Of Choice

001

.

“Managing the

power of choice,

with all its creative

and spiritual implications

is the essence of

the human experience.”

.

~ Caroline Myss

.

It is not as simple as yes or no.

God has given us the chance,

the challenge, the responsibility

to make a choice that will,

to the best of our abilities,

make this world a more kind, patient, tolerant,

forgiving and loving place.

The more we expand our spiritual

and creative selves the more rewarding life,

the human experience becomes.

Today, choose to do your creative best

to do the will of a loving Great Creator.

Recovery is managing the power of choice.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

Feel The Foundation

003

.

Keep me away from

the wisdom which

does not cry,

the philosophy which

does not laugh,

and the greatness

which does not bow before children.”

.

~ Kahlil Gibran

.

The spiritual foundation of life is feelings.

As a drunk I cried at  parties and joyous events,

I laughed during funerals and at serious occasions.

Alcoholism distorted and screwed up my feelings

so I was always on the wrong side of the tracks.

AA has restored me to a sane way of thinking and

today, with the help of the fellowship, a sponsor,

the Big Book and other tools, I now know how

to feel like a child, act like an adult and to enjoy

those feelings which allow me to live life

on God’s terms.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

Better Than A Dream

019

.

“You know

you’re in love

when you can’t

fall asleep

because reality

is finally better

than your dreams.”

.

~ Dr. Seuss

.

From the nightmare of active alcoholism to

a release from the obsession and compulsion,

life has become for those that have a program of  recovery

a life that is beyond our wildest dreams.

Reality becomes a state of mind that is wholly grasped

and enjoyed because all of its components are positive.

Unconditional love and faith become the bedrock

of a spiritual life that is better than any dream.

Today, don’t drink, don’t think and enjoy the dreams.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

Backwards: Continued

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

.

Seeking serenity,

peace of mind,

and a new way

of thinking,

just use the tools

.

.

and know that when we get out of ourselves

and seek to serve others, even if it is

just by listening,

the cement is being poured to give us

the strong spiritual foundation

upon which a rewarding sober life

can be built.

The Daily Discipline

.

“The daily discipline

of prayer and meditation

will keep me in fit

spiritual condition,

able to face whatever

the day brings –

without the thought of a drink.”

.

Daily Reflections,  p. 317

.

What a wonderful way to begin the day,

instead of  waking up under that cloud of alcoholic smog

and worrying about when and where

I would get my next drink,

I now awaken to a routine that puts me

in closer contact to my Higher Power,

a daily discipline that brings sunshine into my life.

Today, be happy, joyous and free,

pray for guidance from the God of your understanding

and meditate, listen for His advice,

which is always to do the next right thing.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

The Practice Of Prayer

.

“As the practice

of prayer continues,

I will find I don’t

need words,

for God can, and does,

hear my thoughts

through silence.”

.

Daily Reflections, p.322

.

Every thought is a prayer.

Silence is God’s opportunity to talk.

One of the benefits of sobriety

and of working the Twelve Steps of A. A.

is a discipline that allows one to practice

those things that improve one’s life.

Today, know that there is no right way to pray

and it is only by practice that you may discover

a way of praying that will be just right for you.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.
