Think Less, Feel More

.

“Get out of

your head

and get into

your heart.

Think less,

feel more.”

.

~ Osho

.

Can’t you just feel it ???

When one stops thinking

and searches out the vibrations

of the Spirit of the Uni-verse,

and you allow yourself to become one with the Light,

serenity, peace of mind and love are yours to be enjoyed.

Today, feel the love,

avoid mean people,

do not go to evil places

and do only the next right thing.

Recovery is to think less, feel more.

Sobriety is a blessing from a Higher Power.

Seeking serenity,

peace of mind,

and a new way

of thinking,

just use the tools

.

.

and know that when we get out of ourselves

and seek to serve others, even if it is

just by listening,

the cement is being poured to give us

the strong spiritual foundation

upon which a rewarding sober life

can be built.

As I Am

.

“Reassured that

I am no longer

always wrong,

I learn to accept myself

as I am, with a new sense

of sobriety and serenity.”

.

Daily Reflections,     p. 303

.

The grandiose egomaniac that suffers

with an inferiority complex doesn’t care

if he is right or wrong, he just wants to be left alone

so he can drink in peace.

Besides not drinking, one of the goals of sobriety

is to find ones self-esteem and to become a

productive member of society.

The happy recovering drunk will be glad to tell you

that once he accepted himself as being the person

his Higher Power wanted him to be

a new sense of peace of mind and serenity was his.

Today, I’m O.K., your O.K., and in sobriety

we can enjoy a life that is happy, joyous and free.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

Like Gossip

.

“Character defects

like gossip

sneak into my life

when I am not making

a constant effort

to work the Twelve Steps

of recovery.”

.

Daily Reflections, p.297

.

The character defect of the drunk

was to talk about other people ( true or false)

so that I would not have to look at myself.

If you spot it, you’ve got it.

Too often what we despise in others

is what we despise in ourselves.

Today, don’t lose your serenity,

when you sense that something is not right,

don’t blame anyone but yourself.

Today, find the Step that will put you

back on a good spiritual foundation and

keep your own side of the street clean.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

Step Eleven

November Roses 037

.

“11.Sought through prayer

and meditation to improve

our conscious contact with

God as we understood Him,

praying only for knowledge

of His will for us and

the power to carry that out.”

.

BB,   p. 59

.

Life is a journey for the recovering alcoholic and

the spiritual path is life’s most important aspect.

Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic

and since we can never be cured of the disease

constant contact with a power that relieved our suffering

must be maintained.

The blessing is that the more we maintain our contact

with a loving Higher Power

the stronger our spiritual foundation grows

and the more we can find serenity and peace of mind.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

First The Pain

.

” … pain was the touchstone

of all spiritual progress …

for we know that

the pains of drinking

had to come before sobriety,

and emotional turmoil

before serenity.”

.

Twelve and Twelve,   pp. 93 & 94

.

Why do so many show up in the rooms of A.A. ,

most will tell you that they were sick and tired

of being sick and tired.

When the pain of the guilt and shame is sufficient,

those that truly seek to understand their lot

will be blessed if they can find the fellowship

and following their suggestions,

find a way that may not be easier and softer

but is definitely more rewarding.

What keeps them sober,

not wanting to return to the pain,

to be able to continue the spiritual path

that allows them to enjoy a life

filled with serenity and peace of mind.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

I Don’t Decide

October Roses 067

.

“I don’t decide which

defects get removed,

or the time frame in

which they get removed.

I ask God to decide which

defects stand in the way

of my usefulness to Him

and to others, and then

I humbly ask Him to remove them.”

.

Daily Reflections, p. 213

.

Suffering from a disease that wants one to isolate,

be alone, push away anyone who loves them

and to kill themselves the number and types

of character defects is as infinitely as varied

as there are alcoholics.

Make the list of your defects,

share it with your Higher Power,

and seek to find some balance, serenity

and peace of mind in your life.

The secret, be willing to change.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.
