Any Which Way

.

“We can be grateful for

every agency or method

that tries to solve the

problem of alcoholism –

whether of medicine,

religion, education,

or research.”

.

As Bill Sees It,  p 147

.

.

There is a God today, and it is not you or me.

The final judge of a persons sobriety

will be a loving Higher Power

who knows if you are lying or

if you my be just stretching the truth a little bit.

We have not yet been cloned, we are unique individuals

and no matter how an alcoholic stops drinking,

God bless them, and may  they do no harm.

Recovery is great no matter which way you do it.

Sobriety is a blessing from a Higher Power.

“Alcoholics Anonymous

has no opinions

on outside issues;

hence the A.A. name

ought never be drawn

into public controversy.”

.

Twelve and Twelve p 176

Mother always said, “When in mixed company

with a group of people that you do not know,

never bring up the topics of politics or religion.”

The founders of A. A. listened well to their mothers.

The members of A. A. come together anonymously

to combat their common enemy, John Barleycorn,

and to discuss their united efforts to stay sober.

In A. A. , what you hear here, who you see here,

let it stay here,

what you do in the outside world

is your own business

and never the twain should meet.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

No Dogma or Theology

Dec 1 pansies 020

.

“Beyond a Higher Power,

as each of us

may vision Him,

A.A. must never,

as a society,

enter the field of

dogma or theology.”

.

As Bill Sees It, p.116

.

A.A. as such is not a religion or a cult.

Each individual must seek

their own concept of a Higher Power,

an entity outside of themselves that can remove

the obsession and compulsion to drink.

A.A. is a suggested program of recovery from alcoholism

and therefore each individual must find their own

pathway to a faith that will sustain their sobriety.

Traditions do not make for dogma.

Today, believe what you want to believe

as long as it keeps you sober.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

Great Ideas

October Roses 074

The basic principles of A. A.,

as they are know today,

were borrowed mainly from the

fields of religion and medicine,

though some ideas upon which

success finally depended were

the result of noting the behavior

and needs of the Fellowship itself.”

.

Twelve and Twelve p 16

.

God made the alcoholic a small minority

of the souls on this earth, therefore,

as medicine and religion work with the majority

there are many times when the needs of the alcoholic

who wants to recover are not fully met.

The program of A. A. addresses the specifics of

recovery from alcoholism by addressing

the entire person; body, mind and soul.

The Big Book keeps it simple, just 164 pages,

therefore it benefits those in recovery to read

the additional A. A. approved literature

to gain a better insight into HOW

this program was developed

and HOW it works.

Today, happy reading.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

” 5. Admitted to God,

to ourselves,

and to another

human being

the exact nature

of our wrongs.”

There are many religions and more than a few

psychologist and psychiatrists who tell you that

there is something very cathartic about confessing

personal moral indiscretions, however,

none of them can tell you how or why it works,

it just does.

Have faith, the program doesn’t need to be explained,

it just needs to be followed to the best of your ability

with the knowledge that it has worked for many

million alcoholics and it can work for you.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

Restored

walk around the block 030

.

“While A. A. has restored

thousands of

poor Christians

to their churches,

and has made believers

out of atheist and agnostics,

it has also made good A. A.’s

out of those belonging to

the Buddhist, Islamic and Jewish faiths.”

.

As Bill Sees It, p. 34

.

Alcoholics Anonymous,

a spiritual program, no a religion.

The fortunate are those who can  put the two,

A. A. and religion, together in balance.

Be restored, go to church, synagogue, mosque,

anywhere where there is no alcohol

and only good people who are willing to live,

love, forgive and support each other.

Today, read as many books as you can

that will help give you guidance towards living

a life that is free of alcohol and moral indiscretions.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.
