Only A Fool

.

.

“Any man can

make a mistake;

only a fool

keeps making

the same one.”

.

~ Latin Proverbs

.

.

The more prepared we are

the less likely we are to make mistakes.

Luck is where preparation meets opportunity.

Today, skill or luck, being prepared means

that you are making the choice to do the next right thing,

to follow the will of your loving Higher Power.

Today, think before you act, own up to your mistakes,

and be prepared to change.

Recovery is not to be the  fool.

Sobriety is a blessing from a Higher Power.

The Paradox

October Roses 035

.

“Such is the paradox

of A. A. regeneration;

strength arising out of

complete defeat

and weakness,

the loss of one’s old life

as a condition for finding

a new one.”

.

A.A. Comes Of Age p 46

.

Change.

People, places and things.

A new way of living, a new reason for living.

Have no fear, don’t fight it, don’t struggle,

accept the change, go with the flow,

go to a meeting and see all of the happy faces,

and know that you too can be one of them.

Recovery, recovering, recovered are three

new words that every alcoholic wishes to learn,

so learn to listen and listen to learn.

Today, become the paradox, accept the change.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

Freedom From Self-will

Pine Island Sunset 031

.

“We ask especially for

freedom from self-will,

and are careful to make

no request for

ourselves only.”

.

BB p 87

.

Prayer and meditation, a tool used by most (all) of the

recovered alcoholics who have good sobriety.

Before we make our daily plans and set upon the Uni-verse

to do what we “want” to do, it is good if we check in

with a loving Higher Power to make sure

those are the things that we “need” to do.

Rule number One:

Will my actions make this world a better place for all,

myself included.

Today, don’t look for rule Number Two,

if you have followed rule Number One

that will be all that you need.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.
