A Reality

.

“Life is not

a problem

to be solved,

but a reality

to be experienced.”

.

~ Soren Kierkegaard

.

What’s the problem ???,

afraid of uncertainty, fear the change,

guess what ???,

that’s reality.

Today, minimize the angst, lower the stress,

reduce the number of headaches and “accept”

God’s world as being exactly as He wishes it to be,

ever-changing, beyond our scope of comprehension,

and a journey to be enjoyed.

Recovery is to enjoy the reality.

Sobriety is a blessing from a Higher Power.

Dream Big, Have Faith

.

“You block your dream

when you allow your fear

to grow bigger than

your faith.”

.

~ Mary Manin Morrissey

.

.

Fear is often a vivid imagination

that has no base in reality,

no foundation in fact.

Today, don’t know if you are coming or going,

pray to your Higher Power for guidance,

ask a friend for a suggestion, have faith that your fear

will not overcome your God given intuition.

Today, use all of the tools that your imagination

can create to lose the fear and have a life

that is happy, joyous and free.

Recovery is always having enough faith to dream.

Sobriety is a blessing from a Higher Power.

Cross The Street

013

.

“If you see

crazy coming,

cross the street.”

.

~ Iyanla Vanzant

.

.

.

Let us assume that if you are reading this

you are not crazy.

Crazy is being stuck in la la land,

out there somewhere

where the word  ‘reality‘  has no meaning.

Today, do not get stuck on the wrong side of the street,

, seek your guidance from a loving Higher Power

and continue to trudge the road towards a destiny

that is happy, joyous and free.

Recovery is to keep on moving.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

Ego, Fear and Pride

.

“The immediate admission of

wrong thoughts or actions is a

tough task for most human beings,

but for recovering alcoholics

like me it is difficult because

of my propensity toward

ego, fear and pride.”

.

Daily Reflections,  p. 295

.

One of the more dominate characteristics

of the alcoholic is ‘nothing in moderation.’

The egomaniac who suffers with an inferiority complex

is off of every wall, below the gutter,

higher than the pink cloud but rarely

anywhere close to reality.

Sobriety, a Higher Power

and the Twelve Step program can

restore the alcoholic to sane thinking.

Today, thank God for a second chance,

go to a meeting and remember to leave your

ego, fear and pride at the meeting room door.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

I’m Better Off

Gainsville 035

.

“So I’m better off

if I don’t give advice,

don’t figure I know what’s best,

and just accept life

on life’s terms, as it is today –

especially my own life,

as it actually is.”

.

BB,   p. 450

.

Fear, I had to be in control,

do as I say, ignore what I am doing.

Helter skelter and bouncing from wall to wall

was the drunks perception of reality.

Today, work the program,

quiet the noisy mind and

don’t take yourself so damn seriously.

Have faith, know that doing the will of God,

doing the next right thing, usually means

offering your experience

only when asked.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

The Illusion

.

“What I discovered

after I arrived

at the other side –

when my inventory

is completed –

is that the illusion was

greater than the reality.”

.

Daily Reflections,  p. 288

.

Fear is the great illusion.

I could not make a list of my moral indiscretions

as a part of Step Four because the illusion was

that I was such a bad person

no one would ever want to associate with me, ever.

Then my sponsor shared with me some of his inventory,

I heard from speakers in the rooms how they had

been not to upstanding and I learned that if it had a name

someone had already been there and done that.

Honesty dispels the illusion.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

Acceptance . . . and Faith

.

“Acceptance and faith

are capable of producing

100 per cent sobriety.

In fact, they usually do;

and they must, else

we would have no life at all.”

.

As Bill Sees It p 6

.

.

Acceptance that I am an alcoholic,

acceptance that one can recover from the disease,

acceptance that this world is exactly the way God wants it to be,

and faith that the next breath will be a sober breath

by the grace of God.

There is a life to be lived and those who have

acceptance and faith know that this life

can be happy, joyous and free.

Today, get a life, don’t fight reality,

accept it.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.
