Righteous Indignation

.

“The positive value of

righteous indignation

is theoretical –

especially for alcoholics.”

As Bill Sees It   p 58

.

.

Learning the difference between

healthy positive and sick negative behaviors

is the pathway to serenity and peace of mind.

Anger can never be justified.

Today, don’t get mad, don’t even think about

getting even, just do the next right thing,

do the will of your loving Higher Power and

pray for those who upset you.

Recovery is not justifying bad behaviors.

The Greatest Enemies

.

“The greatest enemies

of us alcoholics

are resentment,

jealousy, envy,

frustration

and fear.”

.

BB p 143

.

Why I drank.

Alcohol is a depressant, a negative attitude inducer.

Under the influence I thought I was haviing fun,

everything about me changed, unfortunately,

the world did not change and when I sobered up

all of the negative feelings returned, multiplied.

Today, hang with the winners, be positive,

do the next right thing and try to be the person

who would make their mother proud.

Recovery is avoiding the negatives.

Sobriety is a blessing from a Higher Power.

Many Things

006

.

“The best way

to know God

is to love

many things.”

.

~ Vincent van Gogh

.

As a drunks I had no idea what love was.

Negative, selfish, self-centered, love meant sex

and there never was enough of it.

AA has taught me that there are many things that deserve our love

and the best way to a happy, joyous and free life is to do the will

of a loving Higher Power.

We need to love unconditionally,

to love yourself and know that a relationship is a special kind of love that

is never 50/50 but always as close to 100/100 as you can possibly give.

Today, love as many things as you can.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

Worth While

“Showing others who suffer

how we were given help

is the very thing which

makes life seem so

worth while to us now. “

.

BB p 124

Negative, negative, negative,

who cares, who gives a damn, just leave me alone,

I’m not hurting you or anyone else, I’m O.K.,

it is the rest of the world that has a problem.

As the alcoholic works the steps and

the promises begin to come true

the greatest joy arises

when they share the positive message,

there is a better way, a positive plan for living.

Be positive, you cannot keep your sobriety

unless you give it away.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

Troubles And Problems

Pine Island Sunset 039

.

“Resentment, anger,

or a desire to see

someone punished,

are things that rot my soul.

Such things fasten

my troubles

to me with chains.

They tie me to other problems

that have nothing to do with my original problem.”

.

Daily Reflections,  p. 88

.

Negatives have a way of piling up,

they multiply faster than rabbits in the spring.

If it raises your blood pressure,

don’t do it.

It is a large world,

find the people, places and things

that make your soul happy and go there.

If it is family that is a problem, forgive,

and then go find a new family.

Today, don’t tie yourself down with negatives,

fly free, be the person your Higher Power

wants you to be.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

God’s Economy

pine is clouds 068

.

“In God’s economy,

nothing is wasted.

Through failure,

we learn a lesson

in humility

which is probably needed,

painful though it is.”

.

As Bill Sees It, p.31

.

Go to a meeting and listen to the experiences

of the members of the fellowship,

hear them laugh when they relate the absurdity of

their failures and know that they humbly accept

that those memories will keep them from

repeating the bad habits of the past.

Every lesson learned at a meeting,

whether it is positive or negative,

painful though they may be,

can be a tool that will help you grow

in spirit and in sobriety.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.
