The Secret

.

“The secret of the true life

is to remain still

in the midst of activity

and vibrantly awake

while in meditation.

.

~ Dada Vaswani

.

Feeding into the chaos is a false life.

Placating the wishes and wants of others is a false life.

Placing great expectations on people

and God’s world is a false life.

The true life is to see both sides of the coin,

to understand the ebb and flow,

to know the yin and yang of the Great Creator.

Today, seek your balance.

Recovery is to know when to turn off and when to tune in.

Sobriety is a blessing from a Higher Power.

The Seventh Step

is where we made

the change in our attitude

which permits us,

with humility as our guide,

to move out from ourselves

toward others

and toward God.”

The selfish, self-centered attitude will usually cause

the alcoholic to be drunk or miserable or both.

Normal people have balance in their lives,

they have boundaries, goals, aspirations

and also a natural desire to be of service

to family and community.

One of the goals of a recovering alcoholic

is to find that balance in their lives.

Today, take care of your needs,

don’t let your wants get in the way,

and when you have had enough, share.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

True Ambition

“True ambition is not

what we thought it was.

True ambition is the

deep desire to live

usefully and walk humbly

under the grace of God.”

.

.

Twelve and Twelve pp 124-25

.

As a drunk my true ambition

was to make sure that all of my wants and needs

were tken care of first, even if that meant using

and abusing family and friends.

For the recovering alcoholic, true ambition is

serenity, peace of mind and gratitude

for living a simple spiritual program that puts

other peoples needs on a par with our own.

Today, thank your Higher Power for being a miracle

and find pleasure in sharing that miracle.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

Self-centered Fear

“The chief activator

of our defects

has been

self-centered fear . .

.

Twelve and Twelve  p 76

.

Mostly we had fear, because

we may not get what we wanted, because

“I want what I want and I want it now,”

instant gratification.

Therefore, we cheated, lied, stole and manipulated

because, you owed us, the world owed us

and we were only asking for what was owed us.

Recovery has shown us that a loving Higher Power

has provided for all of our needs,

the wants are no longer important.

Today, enjoy what is important; serenity, peace of mind,

freedom from fear and guilt and the blessing to know

“it’s not all about me ! ! !”

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.
