Seeking serenity,

peace of mind,

and a new way

of thinking,

just use the tools

.

.

and know that when we get out of ourselves

and seek to serve others, even if it is

just by listening,

the cement is being poured to give us

the strong spiritual foundation

upon which a rewarding sober life

can be built.

Today, give  the

backward brain

a rest,

Don’t think,

Don’t drink,

Go to a Meeting

and when all else fails,

keep the mouth shut.

Take the cotton out of the ears,

put the cotton in the mouth

and learn to listen and listen to learn.

Need some more tools; get a sponsor,

find some favorite prayers (a mantra),

avail yourself of the approved AA literature

and make sure you read it, be of service,

not just the coffee maker or meeting chair,

but the Intergroup and the District

are very vital organizations that need

every AA members support.

Alcoholics Anonymous can not

turn the backward brain around,

what AA can do is to give one

the tools to learn a new way

of thinking.

God, as I understand Him, for me,

is the most important tool in my tool kit.

Without a strong spiritual foundation

the rest of my program would be a house

built of cards.

When I review the ninth step promises (BB p. 54)

the last promise, “that God is doing for us

what we could not do for ourselves”,

has come true for me.

This promise is proof that “I” will get drunk again

and that “We”, God and the fellowship of AA,

will keep me sober.
