Pay The Price

.

.

“For anything worth having

one must pay the price;

and the price is always

work, patience, love,

and self-sacrifice”

.

~ John Burroughs

Unfortunately we cannot have it all

just by saying the magic words,

clicking our heels together,

rubbing the genie’s lamp,

twitching one’s nose

or by the snapping of our fingers.

Today, do the next right thing, know that

all prayers are answered in God’s time,

and love is the key to all of life’s dreams.

Today, know that what you give of yourself

is the price one pays for happiness.

Recovery is getting what you pay for.

Sobriety is a gift from a loving Higher Power.

“These experiences

cannot make us whole

they are a rebirth

to a fresh and certain

opportunity.”

There is no magic wand,

there are only miracles that will materialize,

sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly,

if we work for them.

Chances are improved if we go to nice places,

with good people and we focus on doing the next right thing.

Choices made by a sober person are usually better than the drunks.

Changes become second nature as we learn to accept

that in God’s world every new day is a different day.

Today, take the chance and make the choice to change

for the better.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

One of the conditions of alcoholism is that

the brain has developed a built in forgetter.

As unforgettable as it may seem at the time,

if one does not go to meetings,

work with a newcomer or sponsor, the feelings

of guilt and remorse seem to vanish like magic.

Today, don’t forget, work the program.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.
