Only A Fool

.

.

“Any man can

make a mistake;

only a fool

keeps making

the same one.”

.

~ Latin Proverbs

.

.

The more prepared we are

the less likely we are to make mistakes.

Luck is where preparation meets opportunity.

Today, skill or luck, being prepared means

that you are making the choice to do the next right thing,

to follow the will of your loving Higher Power.

Today, think before you act, own up to your mistakes,

and be prepared to change.

Recovery is not to be the  fool.

Sobriety is a blessing from a Higher Power.

He Conceded

November Roses 055

.

When our friend

related his experience,

the man agreed that

no amount of will power

he might muster could

stop his drinking for long.

A spiritual experience,

he conceded,

was absolutely necessary, . .

.

BB,  p. 155

.

I can do this,

I can do anything I set my mind to accomplish,

so he said as he stopped by the bar for just one drink.

And then the disease exercised the mind of its own

and he awoke with a brain that was in that perpetual fog,

the brain that wanted to know what had happened.

Will power is a myth, those who claim to have it

are just lucky enough to have accomplished

what they set out to do.

Bad luck is usually to blame for a lack of accomplishment.

Today, let go and let God

and be happy to discover

that you need neither luck nor will power.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

God loves you and so do we.

Luck

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

.

As luck would have it,

some luck is good

and some luck is

bad, however,

some luck of any kind

is better than no luck at all.

Luck, chance or coincidence,

it is merely God’s way of remaining anonymous.

The devil’s children have the devil’s luck.

Luck is always to blame..

If diligence is the mother of good luck,

exercising good judgment is good luck’s father.

Too many people confine their exercise to jumping to conclusions,

running up bills, stretching the truth, bending over backward,

lying down on the job, sidestepping responsibility or pushing their luck.

Good luck is a lazy man’s estimate of a diligent worker’s success.

Chose to exercise the opportunity to be in the right place

at the right time, so that luck may fall into your lap.

Doing the will of your loving Higher Power will increase your

chances of being lucky.

“Shallow people believe in luck and in circumstances;

Strong people believe in cause and effect.”    ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Today, do not wait for luck, have faith, believe in a cause.

The cause is to be kind, the effect is awesome, no luck involved.

The cause is to be loving, it takes practice and devotion to learn to love,

but those who have learned say the effects are beyond being lucky.

The cause is to be being willing to be of service to self, others and

your Higher Power, and you will find the effect is that good luck

will follow you.

Patience and tolerance are the character qualities that

allow the lucky to be at the right place at the right time.

When God throws the dice in the game of life, know that they are loaded.

Today, make you own luck.

Happiness is knowing how lucky we are to be able to enjoy God’s world.

Happiness is helping someone help themselves.

When the Wind Blows

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

.

Sometimes

the ill winds

of fate blows

us harm.

Sometimes

we are lucky

enough to have

the winds of good fortune visit our doorstep.

Like the clouds, we are borne along on the will of a Higher Power.

We plot, we plan, we assume that we are in control of our destinies.

But then we come to the realization that as the winds of fortune

blow, so do our lives travel the paths designed by our Higher Power.

The secret to happiness is not in doing what one likes to do,

but in liking what one has to do.

To make the best gratitude list we must look at all the things

we take for granted.

To enjoy life to its fullest we must be willing to change,

adapt and compromise on many of life’s daily task.

Acceptance is the key to a more satisfying life.

The winds blow just as God wants them to blow.

When we learn to accept God’s will and we start enjoying

what we must do, happiness will be yours to enjoy.

Happiness is helping someone else help themselves.
