The Triple Truth

.

.

“Teach this triple truth to all:

A generous heart, kind speech,

and a life of service and compassion

are the things which renew humanity.”

.

.

~ Buddha

.

.

All of humanity begins with the gracious heart.

A smile and a kind word will re-kindle the hope of mankind.

To give and to care, without the thought of re-payment

provides a foundation for the faith that the world

is becoming a better place.

Today, practice first,

then teach what you have learned to be true.

Recovery is to live  the triple truth.

Sobriety is a blessing from a Higher Power.

Give Your Most

.

“We make a living

by what we get.

We make a life

by what we give.”

.

~ Winston Churchill

.

No one is defined by what they do for a living,

what creates character is how one gives back to this world.

We cannot demand respect, we must earn it

and the best return on investment is to give

without expectation of a reward.

Today, do your job well but keep

your heart and soul focused on living life,

always trying to do the next right thing.

Recovery is giving your most.

Sobriety is a blessing from a Higher Power.

A Small Word

002

.

“Impossible is just

a small word that is

thrown around by small men

who find it easier to live

in a world they’ve been given,

than to explore the power

they have to change it.”

.

~ Muhammad Ali

.

Don’t like the small world that you live in,

let go and let God show you that within your

heart and soul is the power to change.

It is not likely that you will achieve

the top of the mountain with your first try

but have faith, know that the journey to the top

begins with one small exploratory step.

Recovery is to explore your power to change.

Sobriety is a blessing from a Higher Power.

We Have The Key

005

.

“So often time

it happens,

we all live

our life in chains,

and we never even know

we have the key.”

.

~ The Eagles

.

Fear, anger, hate, pride, jealousy;

some of the many links in the chain

that prevents us from living a life

that is happy, joyous and free.

Love, kindness, patience, tolerance, forgiveness,

we all possess the master keys that can open any heart.

Today, ask a friend, ask your Higher Power

to show you how to use the many keys that

the Great Creator has given unto us all.

Recovery is finding the key to serenity and peace of mind.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

Without Comparing

024

.

.

“Enjoy your own life

without comparing it

with that of another.”

.

.

~ Marquis de Condorcet

.

.

People who value feelings, love, kindness,

and contentment, have everything in life,

while many who possess the things,

the toys with all of the bells and whistles,

may be miserable souls who do not know

happy, joyous and free, real enjoyment.

Today, be a friend, do not compare the outsides,

identify with what is in the friends heart.

Today, seek you own happiness first,

then share the love.

Recovery is your own, no comparing.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

A Longing Of The Soul

006

.

.

“Prayer is not asking.

It is a longing

of the soul.

It is daily admission

of one’s weakness.

It is better in prayer

to have a heart without words

than words without a heart.”

.

~ Mahatma Gandhi

.

Today I am sober, by the grace of God.

It was from the heart, a longing of my soul,  when I begged,

I pleaded, I cried out to a power higher than myself to

relieve me of the compulsion and obsession to drink alcohol.

God answers all prayers in God’s time and in a way

that He deems to be appropriate and His way has

turned out to always be the best way.

Every thought is a prayer so make it from the heart.

Be kind, be loving, be the person who makes this world

a better place for all.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

The Daily Discipline

.

“The daily discipline

of prayer and meditation

will keep me in fit

spiritual condition,

able to face whatever

the day brings –

without the thought of a drink.”

.

Daily Reflections,  p. 317

.

What a wonderful way to begin the day,

instead of  waking up under that cloud of alcoholic smog

and worrying about when and where

I would get my next drink,

I now awaken to a routine that puts me

in closer contact to my Higher Power,

a daily discipline that brings sunshine into my life.

Today, be happy, joyous and free,

pray for guidance from the God of your understanding

and meditate, listen for His advice,

which is always to do the next right thing.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.
