Be Confident

.

.

“If I have lost

confidence in myself,

I have the universe

against me.”

.

~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

.

.

When we walk in The Light,

following the path God’s will has for us

we can confidently face each and every day.

When we step over unto the Dark Side,

our confidence is left behind,

we no longer sing in tune with the Uni-verse

and all hope is abandoned.

Today, have faith, the Great Creator has

given us every reason to be confident.

Recovery is to have the confidence

that we can do God’s will.

Sobriety s a blessing from a Higher Power.

God and I

.

“As I accept myself,

I am accepting God’s will.

As I konw and love myself,

I am knowing and loving God.

As I nurture myself

I am acting on God’s guidance.”

.

Daily Reflections,  p. 324

.

.

We are all children of God.

When we work the steps

and remove our ego from  our minds

and make way for God in our hearts

life does get better.

Self-acceptance is easy when you believe

that God does not make any junk.

We all have a purpose, make yours a positive one.

Have faith knowing that His

guidance will be given to you through

the words and actions of other people.

Today, choose the right people

to help you on your journey.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

Voluntary Reaching

November Roses 004

“We saw we needn’t always

be bludgeoned and beaten

into humility.

It could come quite

as much from our

voluntary reaching for it

as it could from

unremitting suffering.”

.

As Bill Sees It,   p. 211

.

The most amazing thing is to hear a sober person say

that humility gives them a warm and fuzzy feeling.

Humble is doing the next right thing,

doing the will of a loving Higher Power.

Having to say that you are sorry all of the time

is not being humble, as a matter of fact

by doing God’s will you will discover

that you rarely ever have to apologize

for errors of omission or commission.

Today, reach out to help another soul

and know that humility will find you.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

Step Seven Again

Pride.

As explained in the Twelve and Twelve, Step seven

is another way for the alcoholic to achieve humility.

Without humility a drunk cannot stay sober.

Humility is God’s will,

pride is the alcoholics will.

We cannot give up pride completely,

we need to have the strength, courage and confidence

that we can do the next right thing,

to do God’s will.

Balance in one’s life is the ultimate goal.

As with all request of a Higher Power,

start with a prayer, meditate, and then be ready

to do whatever it takes to make this world

a better place for all.

For an alcoholic, not drinking

is the first step to making this world a better place..

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

‘the boys and the men’

Pine Island 3 mos after fire 051

.

“So the difference between

‘the boys and the men’

is the difference between

striving for a

self-determined objective

and for the perfect objective

which is of God.”

.

~ Twelve and Twelve,   p. 68

.

The boys (the drunk) is concerned with self,

‘it is all about me.’

The men, those who seek sobriety,

become concerned with doing God’s will,

of being service to others.

Today, grow up, think of others,

concern yourself with doing the next right thing,

seek to do the will of God.

If you do not know what God’s will is for you

feel free to take one or more from my favorite list:

be kind, be loving, be patient and tolerant,

be forgiving and compassionate,

be the person your Higher Power wants you to be.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

Vacillating

roses #1 001

.

“While drinking I seemed

to vacillate between feeling

totally invisible and believing

I was the center of the universe.

Searching for that elusive

balance between the two

has become a major part

of my recovery.”

.

Daily Reflections,  p. 103

.

“I” am important,

but “I” should not take myself too seriously.

The balance needed to live a healthy and happy life

can be found when one is trying to do God’s will

instead of doing their own will.

Get out of yourself, help another drunk,

be of service to your A. A. group,

seek through prayer and meditation to

find the balance in your life

and leave the vacillating up to the fans.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

Step Eleven

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

.

“11.Sought through prayer

and meditation to improve

our conscious contact with

God as we understood Him,

praying only for knowledge

of His will for us and the

power to carry that out.”

.

BB p 59

.

God’s will: be kind, be loving,

be patient, be tolerant, be forgiving

and most importantly, be sober.

Let go and let God.

Today, pray, work the First Step, meditate

and have faith that the courage needed

to say yes, to say no, to do the next right thing

is already in your heart.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.
