A Reality

.

“Life is not

a problem

to be solved,

but a reality

to be experienced.”

.

~ Soren Kierkegaard

.

What’s the problem ???,

afraid of uncertainty, fear the change,

guess what ???,

that’s reality.

Today, minimize the angst, lower the stress,

reduce the number of headaches and “accept”

God’s world as being exactly as He wishes it to be,

ever-changing, beyond our scope of comprehension,

and a journey to be enjoyed.

Recovery is to enjoy the reality.

Sobriety is a blessing from a Higher Power.

Only A Fool

.

.

“Any man can

make a mistake;

only a fool

keeps making

the same one.”

.

~ Latin Proverbs

.

.

The more prepared we are

the less likely we are to make mistakes.

Luck is where preparation meets opportunity.

Today, skill or luck, being prepared means

that you are making the choice to do the next right thing,

to follow the will of your loving Higher Power.

Today, think before you act, own up to your mistakes,

and be prepared to change.

Recovery is not to be the  fool.

Sobriety is a blessing from a Higher Power.

A Small Word

002

.

“Impossible is just

a small word that is

thrown around by small men

who find it easier to live

in a world they’ve been given,

than to explore the power

they have to change it.”

.

~ Muhammad Ali

.

Don’t like the small world that you live in,

let go and let God show you that within your

heart and soul is the power to change.

It is not likely that you will achieve

the top of the mountain with your first try

but have faith, know that the journey to the top

begins with one small exploratory step.

Recovery is to explore your power to change.

Sobriety is a blessing from a Higher Power.

Letting Go

006

.

.

“Everything we need

is already there.

The challenge is letting go

of all our stuff in the way.”

.

– Tara Stiles

.

.

People. places and things come and go,

everything changes, sometimes for the worse,

sometimes for the better.

Today, enjoy the better memories

but never forget that we have cried,

look for the new and try to make it better.

God has provided, it is our choice to say

‘I can, I will.’ make do with what I have

and I will let go of stuff that is in my way.

Recovery is letting go of stuff that gets in my way.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

Act, Not React

005

.

“The possibilities

are numerous

once we decide to act

and not react.”

.

~ George Bernard Shaw

.

God does not close one door without opening another;

the pain of change is me with my foot

stuck in the door that God is trying to close.

While my reaction was focused on what was lost

I missed out on the many God given chances

to make this life, this world, a better place.

Today, move on, learn how to discover the

numerous opportunities the good life affords.

Sobriety is to act, not react.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

And Change

001

.

“Man needs,

for his happiness,

not only the enjoyment

of this or that,

but hope and enterprise

and change.”

.

~ Bertrand Russell

.

Change.

The most important word in recovery is change.

My sponsor told me that to achieve sobriety

I only had to change one thing about me

and that one thing was everything.

Most importantly, the fellowship has taught me that

change is the only constant and that change is inevitable.

What I did for my recovery yesterday may not work today

so I need to work my program, go to a meeting and have faith

that my Higher Power, speaking to me through others,

will guide me through another sane and sober day.

Today, go with the flow, know that this too will change,

accept life on God’s terms

and you will be the happier for it.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

The Daily Discipline

.

“The daily discipline

of prayer and meditation

will keep me in fit

spiritual condition,

able to face whatever

the day brings –

without the thought of a drink.”

.

Daily Reflections,  p. 317

.

What a wonderful way to begin the day,

instead of  waking up under that cloud of alcoholic smog

and worrying about when and where

I would get my next drink,

I now awaken to a routine that puts me

in closer contact to my Higher Power,

a daily discipline that brings sunshine into my life.

Today, be happy, joyous and free,

pray for guidance from the God of your understanding

and meditate, listen for His advice,

which is always to do the next right thing.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.
