Your Teachers

.

“Imagine that every person

in the world is enlightened

but you.

They are all your teachers,

each doing

just the right things

to help you learn

perfect patience, perfect wisdom, perfect compassion.”

.

~ Buddha

.

Be conscious, seek enlightenment, choose to learn

from the best and the worst that the Spirit of Nature

will put into your life.

The worst will teach you patience,

the best will show where wisdom arises from,

and a loving Perfect Judge will demonstrate

what compassion brings to the enlightened soul.

Recovery is to learn from those who are enlightened.

Sobriety is a blessing from a Higher Power.

Each Morning

.

.

“Each morning

we are born again.

What we do today

is what matters most.”

.

~ Buddha

.

.

.

We have no knowledge of what God’s world has

in store for us today, but, have faith that

if we go where there are nice people,

if we go to where the Devil fears to tread, and

if we do the next right thing,

the Great Provider will see that our needs are met.

Today, be the person a loving Higher Power wants us to be.

Recovery is to be born again every day.

Sobriety is a blessing from a Higher Power.

The Triple Truth

.

.

“Teach this triple truth to all:

A generous heart, kind speech,

and a life of service and compassion

are the things which renew humanity.”

.

.

~ Buddha

.

.

All of humanity begins with the gracious heart.

A smile and a kind word will re-kindle the hope of mankind.

To give and to care, without the thought of re-payment

provides a foundation for the faith that the world

is becoming a better place.

Today, practice first,

then teach what you have learned to be true.

Recovery is to live  the triple truth.

Sobriety is a blessing from a Higher Power.

Conquer Yourself

.

“It is better to conquer yourself

than to win a thousand battles.

Then the victory is yours.

It cannot be taken from you,

not by angels or by demons,

heaven or hell.”

.

~ Buddha

.

.

Body, mind and soul, find the balance

between what comes and what goes,

between what we take and what we give

and we will have conquered ourselves.

The victor does not concede to any person,

place or thing, does not dance to their dictates,

and becomes one with the ebb and flow

that is the rhythm of the Uni-verse.

Recovery is to conquer yourself.

Sobriety is a blessing from a High Power.

I Think I Can

009

.

.

“He is able

who thinks

he is able.”

.

~ Buddha

.

.

.

Just remember the Little Engine that could and

that ant that moved the rubber tree plant and

know that with faith, the fellowship and positive

determination, any drunk can get sober.

I think I can, just one day at a time.

With the help of a power greater than myself,

following a few suggestions, not drinking, not thinking,

and going to meetings, I now enjoy a life that is

beyond my wildest dreams.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

And, if no one has told you yet today,

God loves you and so do we.

Charity

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

.Charity begins

at home with a

benevolent word,

kindness, and

love, for yourself,

and your family.

“You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe,
deserve your love and affection.” ~ Buddha

Charity does not begin at home because you are selfish,

it begins at home because that is where

kindliness and love are taught and learned.

The will of God is to be kind, loving, to be patient and tolerant,

to be forgiving and to make this world a better place for all to live in.

Charity is not just alms for the poor;

you cannot buy your way into Heaven.

Charity is a positive attitude that allows you to give

the best of yourself to help God’s world.

Needy isn’t always just a lack of money, resources or the physical

need, it can also be an emotional or a spiritual need.

Charity is to feed the body and the soul to help those in need keep

their dignity, improve their self esteem, and allow them to give back

to the world the love and kindness which has been freely

given to them.

Charity is your time and your compassion for others,

and if you have a few alms to donate, do so in a charitable fashion.

Charity is a hand up, not a hand out.

“Teach this triple truth to all: A generous heart,
kind speech, and a life of service and compassion
are the things which renew humanity.”            ~ Buddha

The will of a Higher Power is to renew humanity.

Chose a charitable group that wants your support and one

that offers to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs

of those they are trying to help.

All charitable groups must have a statement of purpose.

Read the groups mission statement and see that it agrees

with the will of your Higher Power.

Learn the history of the organization you wish to support

and know that their actions support the intentions of their

mission statement.

Today’s charities number in the thousands and they run

the gambit from mega corporations with high overhead,

well paid executives and slick ad campaigns all the way

down to the local church which manages to provide services

on a shoe string budget operated by volunteers?

Learn to be charitable every day by giving a compliment, a smile,

a kind word or five minutes of your time to get out of yourself and

be of service to God’s world.

Have faith, your Higher Power will help you meet or exceed

your needs.

Today, be charitable; share your faith, your hope, and your

dreams for a better world.

Happiness is helping someone help themselves.

Meditation

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

.
Spiritual,

Mental,

or Physical,

the object

of meditation

is to learn

how every fiber

of your person is connected within yourself and with your universe.

You can lock out the world, Concentrate,

and learn to focus the mind on a single thing;

your breathing, your mantra or just your belly button.

You can invite the whole world in, Mindfulness,

and learn to accept whatever arises in your senses.

You can sit quietly, Visualization,

and bring images to mind; shapes, colors,

or mandalas, to soothe your spirit.

You can move pensively, Movement,

the wellness of the body is learned in such

disciplines as Tai Chi, in some martial art forms

or just by walking.

You can cultivate a positive mood or beneficial outlook,

Loving Kindness, through the contemplation

of such feelings as compassion for all people.

Love yourself, God made you perfect to do his will.

Love others; God gave you everyone in your life so

that, good or bad, you may learn how to do the will

of your Higher Power.

Have a problem, Transformative; seek solace

or the solution to specific problems by

turning negative emotions into positive energies.

These are but a few of the forms of meditation taught

by different gurus over the centuries.

Try the meditations that appeal to you, use as many as you like,

but know that you need to learn from someone, Guided Meditation.

The secret to most meditations is the discipline;

you must do them on a scheduled basis so that you are

in practice when an emergency arises.

Hold on to what you like, seek you own, but know that before

you can work on yourself you must first learn who you are.

Remember, that you change daily, and who you were yesterday

may not be the same person that you are today.

Friends and family are usually only too glad to give

you advice and directions.

Need more help?

The teacher, the preacher, the rabbi, the guru, the Indian chief,

the baker, any human with ears that speaks the same language

of the heart will do fine in a pinch.

The dog and the cat do not qualify.

When you have learned an honest meditation, you will know

if the changes in you are for the better or for the worse.

Good meditation is done on a daily basis to improve your

conscious contact with your Higher Power, and your soul.

Need a mantra, borrow someone’s until you have your own

or you may borrow mine;

“Be Kind, Be Loving, Be patient and Tolerant, Be forgiving

and Be the person God wants me to be.”

Repeat the above five times and when you leave the house,

do so with a positive attitude in your heart and a smile

on your face.

Write your mantra, the one you borrowed or the one you designed

specifically for you, on a piece of paper and keep it handy

until you know it well in your heart.

Do as often as necessary during the day or whenever you feel

your attitude slipping.

“The important thing is this to be able, at any moment,
to sacrifice what we are for what we could become.

~ Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
Guru to the Beatles

Happiness is knowing how to Meditate

to become the best you can be.

Happiness is helping someone help themselves.
