On The Defensive

The moment we ponder
a twisted or broken relationship

with another person,
our emotions go
on the defensive.”

As Bill Sees It p 151

No one likes to admit they were wrong,
that they were the reason for all the bad feelings.
It is just too easy to say that it was their fault.
Blame them, our egos could not let us be wrong.
What were our motives, what part did we play
in the whole of the picture ? ? ?
Doing the Steps, as suggested in the program of A. A.,
will usually expose the real person behind the drunk.
Today, forgive the past, don’t forget it,
and try to make this a day with no regrets.
Recovery is knowing that I will always be imperfect.
Sobriety is a blessing from a Higher Power.
