The Spiritual Experience

“In the wake of my spiritual
experience there came a
vision of a society of alcoholics.
If each sufferer were to carry

the news of the scientific
hopelessness of alcoholism
to each new prospect, he might
be able to lay every
newcomer wide open to
a transforming spiritual experience.
This concept proved to be the
foundation of such success
as A.A. has since achieved.”

GRAPEVINE, JANUARY 1963

.
Alcoholics think too much.

Most alcoholics came into AA as the smartest things on this earth,

they knew everything.

We say most alcoholics because we know that there were a number

who arrived at the AA doors totally defeated, wrung out,

and not to sure what to think.

No matter how they arrive, their thinking must be

persuaded that a Spiritual experience

will do for them what they could not do for themselves.

Today, thank your loving Higher Power for removing

the obsession and compulsion to drink alcohol and for

your serenity and peace of mind.

Recovery is a transforming spiritual experience.

Sobriety is a blessing from a Higher Power.
