The Traditions Are A Guide

Our Traditions are a guide
to better ways of working
and living, and they are to
group survival and harmony
what A.A.’s Twelve Steps
are to each member’s
sobriety and peace of mind.

The first word of the First Step, We.

We must get along together so that we can help each other

stay sober and enjoy a better life, one day at a time.

The Traditions were pounded out by trial and error.

History is the best teacher and the early founders

of AA were well read as to the accounts of all of the movements

that came and went during the time of recorded history.

What mistakes the failures made were the ones the Traditions

try to avoid.

Most important, humbly trying to keep the egos in check.

Additionally, the Traditions are a tool that helps the fellowship stay sober,

Recovery is understanding the Twelve Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Sobriety is a blessing from a Higher Power.
