We ‘Ought To’

“When we chose

because we ‘ought to’

we were really doing better.

This time we were

earning some freedom,

making ourselves

ready for more.”

As Bill Sees It      p124

Recovery is a process where we can measure our growth

by looking at the choices we make.

As Bill explained, entering A.A. we had no choice,

alcohol made our decisions for us.

Doing the steps we attempted to make the choices

that we “must” to stay sober, one day at a time.

Our next level of growth is accompanied by a little more

surrendering to the spiritual tools that have been laid at our feet.

We ‘ought to’ do the next right thing.

Recovery is learning to make better choices.

Sobriety is a blessing from a Higher Power.
