“Most people feel more secure

on the twenty-four hour basis

than they do on the resolution

that they will never drink again.

Most of them have broken

too many resolutions.”

As Bill Sees It    p 16

I vow, I swear, I promise, I resolve, I pledge

on my Boy Scout honor, I take this oath

that I will never to do that again (get drunk),

and yet here it is today and I am drunk again.

After the sponsor stopped laughing

he repeated for the hundredth time,

“don’t tell me, show me.”

One day at a time, one hour at a time,

one minute at a time, one second at a time,

just don’t drink at this time.

Recovery is best handled one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from a Higher Power.
