The Last Flicker

“They cited cases out of

their own experience

by the dozen.

This process snuffed out

the last flicker

of conviction that

I could do the job myself.”

Big Book, p. 42

Many a recovering alcoholic will tell you

that listening to others relate their experiences

was the straw that broke the camels back.

We identified with the feelings and we realized

that our lives had become unmanageable.

The biggest blow to the ego was when we realized

that all of those who had recovered were giving credit

to the fellowship and a Power greater than themselves,

they had not done it on their own.

Today, tell your story and give credit

where credit is due.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

ME and the Boss

And, if no one has told you yet today,

God loves you and so do we.
