First The Pain

” … pain was the touchstone

of all spiritual progress …

for we know that

the pains of drinking

had to come before sobriety,

and emotional turmoil

before serenity.”

Twelve and Twelve,   pp. 93 & 94

Why do so many show up in the rooms of A.A. ,

most will tell you that they were sick and tired

of being sick and tired.

When the pain of the guilt and shame is sufficient,

those that truly seek to understand their lot

will be blessed if they can find the fellowship

and following their suggestions,

find a way that may not be easier and softer

but is definitely more rewarding.

What keeps them sober,

not wanting to return to the pain,

to be able to continue the spiritual path

that allows them to enjoy a life

filled with serenity and peace of mind.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

ME and the Boss

And, if no one has told you yet today,

God loves you and so do we.
