The disease of alcoholism is

cunning, baffling, powerful,

patient and progressive.

Too many first hand accounts have been told

in the rooms of A. A. that no one can deny

that you do not pick up your old drinking habits

where you left them the last time you had a drink,

you start out at the point where you would have been

had you never stopped at all.

Today, if you admit that you are an alcoholic,

don’t go out testing the waters,

believe those who have gone there for you,

it does not ever get any better.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.
