Mend My Ways

November Lanai 014

“… for if my actions

have harmed someone,

I make a daily effort

to cause no futher harm.

I have mend my ways,”

Daily Reflections,  p. 265

To make amends means to change,

as in the “Amendments to the Constitution”

are changes that our forefathers made after the fact.

(History lesson for all, not just Americans.)

Not only do we make direct amends by apologizing

to those we have harmed, the most important

amends is to change old behaviors and

refrain from harming anyone again.

We need to ‘mend our ways,’ and become the person

our Higher Power wants us to be,

a kind and loving spouse, parent, friend

and fellow laborer in this journey we call life.

Today, be the best carrier of the A.A. message,

show everyone that the better way is a mended way.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

ME and the Boss

And, if no one has told you yet today,

God loves you and so do we.
