The Unique Ability

November Roses 033

“The unique ability

of each A. A.

to identify himself with,

and bring recovery to,

the newcomer in no way

depends upon his learning,

his eloquence, or any special

individual skills.

The only thing is that he is an alcoholic who has found the key to sobriety.”

Twelve and Twelve,  pp. 150-151

Identify, do not compare.

The alcoholic who has found the key to sobriety

knows that it is a Higher Power

that has performed the miracle

and in no way has he or his ego been responsible

for his relief from the obsession and compulsion to drink.

Showing up at a meeting is a message to the newcomer

that the program works, even if you never say one word.

Smile, laugh, hug a friend, and nod your head

in agreement when you hear the speaker share

their experience, strength and hope.

Your Higher Power will give you the chance and

the talents and skills needed to carry the message,

the choice is yours to reach out

and welcome the still suffering.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

ME and the Boss

And, if no one has told you yet today,

God loves you and so do we.
