Personal Affronts

November Roses 029

What were seemingly

impersonal acts,

were really

personal affronts,

because it was people

– people of worth –

whom I had harmed.

I need to do something

about the people I have hurt

so that I may enjoy a peaceful sobriety.”

Daily Reflections, p. 231

When the selfish and self-centered drunk

was dancing to the tune of Lord Alcohol

he never considered whose toes he was stepping upon

as long as he had the drink to calm his nerves.

Whether you knew their names or not, whether you

danced with them only once or danced with them every day,

the toes you stepped upon need an apology.

The best part of the sober dance

is that no one gets stepped upon

and life becomes happy, joyous and free

of guilt, shame and sore toes.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

ME and the Boss

And, if no one has told you yet today,

God loves you and so do we.
