Subtle Harms

Lanai 017

“Such gross misbehavior

is not by any means

a full catalogue

of the harms we do.

Let us think of some of

the subtler ones which

can sometimes be

quite damaging.”

Twelve and Twelve,   p. 81

As it goes on to explain in the Twelve and Twelve

“We happened to be miserly, irresponsible, callous, or cold.”

And the list goes on, not just the major lying, cheating and stealing,

but mostly the selfish, self-centered, arrogant attitude of the drunk

that pushes away anyone who loves them.

The drunk becomes isolated and alone,

the way the disease wants them,

so that they can kill themselves without guilt and shame.

Today, to find peace of mind,

be thorough and honest as you work the steps.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

ME and the Boss

And, if no one has told you yet today,

God loves you and so do we.
