We Drank

lanai (22)

“For thousands of years
we have been demanding
more than our share of
security, prestige,
and romance.
When we seemed
to be succeeding,
we drank to dream
still greater dreams.
When we were frustrated,
even in part,
we drank for oblivion.
Never was there enough of
what we thought we wanted.”

Twelve and Twelve,   p. 71

Then we showed up in the rooms of A.A.

and we learned that alcoholics

do not need a reason to drink,

they drink because thay are alcoholics.

The problem of the selfish, self-centered,

never enough egotist was resolved

when we worked the steps and allowed

a new found Higher Power to do for us

what we could not do for ourselves.

Today, let go and let God.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

ME and the Boss

And, if no one has told you yet today,

God loves you and so do we.
