Stand Tall

“We should be sensible,

tactful, considerate

and humble

without being servile

or scraping.

As God’s people

we stand on our feet;

we don’t crawl before anyone.”

.

Self-esteem, respect,

two words that most drunks misuse and abuse.

The baffling part of the disease of alcoholism

is how it can control and contort the

ego and psyche of an individual and make them

act in strange and immoral ways.

The consequences of picking up that first drink

was never rationally thought through.

Read the Big Book, learn how the disease works,

see how not drinking and a few new habits

can teach you what the words self-esteem and respect

really mean.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

And, if no one has told you yet today,

God loves you and so do we.
