“We A.A.’s have had
no better teacher than
Old Man Adversity,
except in those cases
where we refuse to
let him teach us.”
As Bill Sees IT, p. 184
The teacher cannot teach anything
if the student is not ready, willing
or able to learn.
Alcohol had such a grip on the soul that
the drunk could not be ready to quit drinking,
willingness was not a possibility
and the ability was reduced to a blackout.
No matter how severe the adversity, the lesson
could not be learned until the gift of desperation
elevated the body, mind and soul to a level where
ready and willing were a possibility,
the able part had to wait until the fog had lifted.
Today, avoid adversity, learn the lesson,
don’t pick up that first drink.
Recovery is one day at a time.
Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

And, if no one has told you yet today,
God loves you and so do we.
