We Drank

“We demanded more than

our share of security,

prestige and romance.

When we seemed

to be succeeding,

we drank to dream

still greater dreams.

When we were frustrated,

even in part,

we drank for oblivion.”

Twelve and Twelve,  p. 71
AS Bill Sees It,  p. 40

There is a constant battle between

the denial of the disease and the reality of the addiction.

We thought that we needed a reason to drink

when if fact we drank because we were alcoholics.

This simple spiritual program suggest

that we allow a Higher Power to let us see reality,

to examine the bad habits, the denial, the justifications

of the past and let Him help us put them aside.

Today, know that there is no real reason

to drink alcohol.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

ME and the Boss

And, if no one has told you yet today,

God loves you and so do we.
