The Obligation

“We do not use
the concept of sickness
to absolve our members
from responsibility.
On the contrary,
we use the fact of fatal illness
to clamp the heaviest kind
of moral obligation
onto the sufferer,
the obligation to use
A. A.’s Twelve Steps
to get well.”

.

As Bill Sees It,  p. 32

.

The disease is not an excuse

it is a reason to listen to those who wrote the book

and detailed the steps needed to maintain sobriety.

Those who are willing to admit

that they are alcoholics must also be willing

to face the obligation to go to any length

to achieve a life that is happy, joyous and free.

Today, be Honest, be Open-minded and be Willing

to work the steps to the best of your ability.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

And, if no one has told you yet today,

God loves you and so do we.
