Some More

“Once we have placed

the key of willingness

in the lock

and have the door ever

so slightly open,

we find that we can

always open it some more.”

It does not matter where you first found AA,

a nudge from the judge, family intervention,

fellow worker or from under a rock,

what counts is that at that very moment

you were handed the key to sobriety.

Find the lock by going to a few meetings,

by talking to the members of the fellowship.

All that is left is to push open the door of willingness

and walk into the sunlight.

Alcoholism locks the soul into a room of darkness,

a room that is filled with self, a room that will

eventually drive you insane.

Today, enjoy the light,

push open the door of willingness some more

and open it as wide as you can.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

And, if no one has told you yet today,

God loves you and so do we.
