Self-justification

“For most of us, self-justification

was the maker of excuses

for drinking and for all kinds

of crazy and damaging conduct.

We had made the invention of alibis

a fine art.”

.

There was a reason behind every drink I ever took.

I earned it, I deserved it, I needed it , I wanted it

but the fact that I was an alcoholic

was never the reason, until I joined A. A..

A. A. taught me that I had an illness, an obsession

and a compulsion to drink alcoholically and

every excuse, every delusion that I used

to justify my drinking was nothing but

the disease lying to my ego.

Today, be honest, be truthful and know that

there is no reason in this world

to pick up the first drink.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

And, if no one has told you yet today,

God loves you and so do we.
