“The deception

of others

is nearly always

rooted in

the deception

of ourselves.”

Grapevine, August 1961

Denial, (De-Nile) is not a river in Egypt.

We drink because we are addicted to alcohol

and the reasons we create are simply deceptions

to justify our involuntary actions.

Who wants to admit that they are ill, defective,

incapable of exercising will power over a liquid,

and unable to resist a habit that wants us to isolate,

be alone, push away anyone who loves us

and to kill ourselves.

When we begin to work the simple program

suggested by the Big Book and we begin to understand

Honesty, Open-mindedness and Willingness,

we stop deceiving ourselves and we learn that others

are more supportive when they know

that we are telling the truth.

Today, no lies, no deception.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

ME and the Boss

And, if no one has told you yet today,

God loves you and so do we.
