‘But what about
the real alcoholic?
He may start off as
a moderate drinker;
he may or may not become
a continuous hard drinker;
but at some stage
of his drinking career
he begins to lose all control
of his liquor consumption, once he starts to drink.”
BB p 21
Every alcoholic has a different story
but they all have one thing in common,
at some point in the drinking career
the first drink begins an obsession and compulsion
that the alcoholic cannot control.
Whether it is his first drink that begins the onset
or the ten thousandth drink after many years,
once the line has been crossed there is no turning back.
Best suggestion, do not compare your drinking habits,
identify with the feelings, the consequences
of picking up that first drink.
Recovery is one day at a time.
Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.
