“Our stories disclose
in a general way
what we used to be like,
and what we are like now.”
BB p 58
What it used to be like: drunk-a-log,
keep it brief, the drunks in the fellowship
know how to drink.
Tell just enough of your drinking career
to qualify yourself and to let the newcomer identify.
What happened: a short story,
or maybe a longer one if needed
to describe how your Higher Power
directed your feet to the other side of the street.
And what it is like now: the glowing highlights
of a recovered soul that is sober,
by the grace of God
and is leading a glorious life
that is beyond our wildest dreams.
Today, make what we are like now, better.
Recovery is one day at a time.
Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

And, if no one has told you yet today,
God loves you and so do we.
