Absurd and Incomprehensible

“Our behavior is as

absurd and incomprehensible

with respect to the first drink

as that of an individual

with a passion, say,

for jay-walking.”

BB p 37

The jay-walker is just one of many illustrations

that the authors of the BB use to show how insidious

the disease of alcoholism is.

Why would anyone play in traffic knowing that the end results

are painful and in the end often fatal, ergo,

why would anyone drink poison knowing that the end results

are usually jails, institutions or death.

Today, whether it is your hard head that you are trying to get through

or the hard head of the newcomer with whom you are working with,

use this illustration to show how the disease makes one

act absurdly and incomprehensibly.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

ME and the Boss

And, if no one has told you yet today,

God loves you and so do we.
