Sweep Away The Debris

“We attempt

to sweep away

the debris which

has accumulated

out of our effort

to live on self-will

and run the show

BB p 76

When the will is primarily concerned about

when and where is the next drink coming from

the alcoholic invariably makes a few mistakes along the way.

Major problems: divorce, run-in with the law, lost jobs

or just minor faux pas; unhappy marriage, stuck in a job rut,

or just never able to get ahead, the recovering alcoholic

who honestly works the steps with a sponsor

will eventually see that it was not  his will, or the lack of it,

but the demon John Barleycorn who created most of the messes.

Today, work the steps, put your ego in its place

and humbly ask your Higher Power to guide you

towards a life that is happy, joyous and free.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

ME and the Boss

And, if no one has told you yet today,

God loves you and so do we.
