He Clings

“He admits he cannot drink

like other people,

but does not see why.

He clings to the notion

that he will yet

find a way to do so.”

~ BB p 110

The disease of alcoholism is cunning, baffling and powerful

and it also has faith and hope that it will one day delude

the afflicted into believing that he can drink

like a normal person.

There is nothing normal about drinking an addictive substance

that is a poison.

Today, keep your spiritual guard up,

work with another drunk, attempt to do the next right thing

and ignore the voice of John Barleycorn

dancing through your head.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

ME and the Boss

And, if no one has told you yet today,

God loves you and so do we.
