forgive and forget

“The children are

sometimes dominated

by a pathetic hardness

and cynicism.

They cannot seem to

forgive and forget.”

BB p 134

So the drunk did not hang out at the bar,

did not belong to the social club,

they stayed home and got plastered.

Physically  he was home,

emotionally he was nowhere, and although

the children saw him they did not know him. (or her)

Stop the drinking, sober up, work the program,

grow up emotionally, change what you must

and above all learn to be patient,

children will be the last to buy into the new sober parent.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

And, if no one has told you yet today,

God loves you and so do we.
