We Never Get Better

“Then he fell victim to a

belief which practically

every alcoholic has – that

his long period of sobriety

and self-discipline had

qualified him to drink

as other men.”

BB p 32

Never is forever and to the alcoholic

that is just one day too many.

One day at a time,

and no matter how many days have passed,

the disease is just sitting on the shoulder,

whispering sweet nothings into the ear, lying to

the unsuspecting who should always remember,

there is nothing so good or bad in this world

that a drink will not make bad or worse.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

And, if no one has told you yet today,

God loves you and so do we.
