Staying Stopped

“But drinking caught

up with me again

and my generous friend

had to let me go.

This time

we stayed broke.”

I stopped drinking many times

but I could never stayed stopped

and the next time I took that first drink

the progression of the disease always made

things worse than they had ever been before.

Today, I will thank my Higher Power for removing

the obsession to drink, and I will attempt to do

the next right thing by giving back to the fellowship

that which was so freely given to me.

Recovery is one day at a time.

Sobriety is a blessing from our Higher Power.

ME and the Boss

And, if no one has told you yet today,

God loves you and so do we.
